Buying samples

To aid in your final rug selection, we encourage you to take advantage of our samples. Our sample box is available for $25 and allows you the option to select up to 5 samples. Want more? You can get as many sample boxes as you’d like! You’ll also receive a $50 credit that can be used toward any rug purchase. Following the purchase of your sample box, you will receive an email containing a unique coupon code. To secure your $50 credit, enter this code in the "Discount Code" field during checkout. Please keep in mind that coupon codes cannot be combined. Unsure of where to start? Our design experts are available to help you curate a sample box to fit your needs.

Sample box credits, promotions and other discounts (aside from free shipping) cannot be combined.

When you receive a sample box, you earn a $50 credit that can be applied toward the purchase of a rug. Credits are not stackable based on the number of sample boxes you purchase. If you buy multiple sample boxes, you will receive separate $50 credits for each, but you can only use one credit per rug purchase.

The sample box promotional codes are limited to one use per customer and cannot be combined. For additional information, please visit our Promotional Terms and Conditions.

Returning your samples is easy and free:

  1. Place your samples in the return bag found within your sample box.

  2. Apply the prepaid return label to the outside of the box. You can also find the return label inside the box.

Drop the packaging in a USPS mailbox or at your local post office.

You will not receive a refund for returning your samples but we ask that you do so in an effort to minimize environmental waste.

Ordering & shipping

We ship to almost anywhere within the United States with the exception of MT and AK. At this time, we do not ship internationally. If you are within one of these areas, we encourage you to check back as we expand.

At Ernesta, we offer several types of shipping options to accommodate different delivery needs. They include:

  1. Parcel via UPS/FedEx - $100, parcel shipping availability is based on rug size and weight. This option is typically available for smaller packages. (2–3 weeks)

  2. Inside entryway via carrier - $300, delivery to your front door or your package room. A signature is required. (4–5 weeks)

  3. Inside entryway or room of choice via delivery team - $300, scheduled delivery to a specified room in your home. Your rug will be hand-delivered to your chosen room and unwrapped. Our team will discard any packaging.

Shipping times and delivery options may vary based on the destination and other factors beyond our control. 

If you live in a delivery location outside of our standard range, additional fees may be required that will be reflected in the final cost of your purchase. You can check your estimated delivery cost and time by entering your zip code into our system.

Promotional free shipping coupons can be applied at checkout for a limited time only. This promotion does not apply to room of choice delivery. Oversized rugs or rugs in excess of 300lb may incur an extra charge and applies only to rug purchases. No cash value. Void where prohibited. Other terms may apply.

Once you place an order, you have 24 hours to cancel or edit your order. To make changes during this 24-hour period, please get in touch at help@ernesta.com or text us at (347) 947-2177. You may experience a delay in reply outside of our normal operating hours, but we will honor all changes and cancellations made within the 24-hour period.

Once your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email from Ryder, our third-party delivery partner. Within this email will be a link to schedule (and reschedule) your delivery after it arrives at their hub. If you have further questions about this process or the delivery of an order, you may reach out to them directly.

Typically, it takes 2–4 weeks from order placement to delivery. (With the exception of our Moroccan-Inspired Collection which will be delivered in 3–5 weeks due to their specialized construction.) It's important to note that the 2-week delivery timeline applies specifically to parcel-eligible rugs. Parcel eligibility is based on rug size and weight. Not all products are eligible for delivery via parcel.

Selecting a rug

At Ernesta, our rugs are tailored to fit your unique space. We offer rectangular and round rug options with sizes ranging from as small as 2’ x 2’. At Ernesta, we take the safety of our products seriously. The majority of our products are made with natural materials: wool, jute, sisal and seagrass that are not treated with any topical chemicals. Wool rugs naturally filter the air around them and neutralize contaminants, making them an excellent option for low-toxic conscious households.

Our synthetic products similarly do not receive any coatings or treatments and the yarns are safe for people and pets. That being said, most of our rugs have a backing that is glued to the rug. This backing helps the integrity of the rugs by reinforcing the weave and fibers, which also helps prevent shedding. 

All of our products meet California's new stringent PFA bans and VOC limits for home textile products. Although our rugs meet US Consumer Business Standards, they have not been tested for OKEO-TEX.

Any pattern on your rug is a fixed size and will not scale based on the size of your rug. Instead, a larger rug will show more repeats of the same size pattern. For scale reference, each style includes a full size rug photo representing a 5' x 8' size. If you need additional help, our design experts can create a rendering for you, free of charge. Our team works diligently to ensure that your rug is cut to the exact dimensions requested but please note that due to the custom fabrication process, there is a small possibility that there can be a 2 inch +/- variation for both length and width.

We strive to provide you with a best-in-class experience, but acknowledge that mistakes happen. If your order is incorrect for any reason, please get in touch with our customer care team at help@ernesta.com or text us at (347) 947-2177. We will do our best to remedy the situation.

We stand behind the quality of all Ernesta products and understand that there are scenarios outside of the customer’s control that may impact their experience. In the event that you receive a damaged rug, please contact our customer care team at help@ernesta.com within 30 days of delivery to get the issue resolved.

If you don't want to keep your old rug, consider one of these suggestions:

Donate it: If the rug is still in good condition, consider donating it to a local charity or thrift store. Someone else may be able to make use of it.

Upcycle it: Old rugs can be repurposed into a variety of items, such as a pet bed, a cushion, or even a wall hanging. Get creative and think of ways to use your old rug that suits your personal taste and style.

Sell it: If the rug is still in good condition, you can try selling it online or at a local consignment shop.

Recycle it: Some recycling centers accept old rugs, especially if they are made from natural fibers such as wool. Check with your local recycling center to see if they accept old rugs.

Dispose of it: If the rug is beyond repair or in poor condition, you may need to dispose of it. Check with your local waste management company to see if they accept rugs or if they have specific instructions for how to dispose of them.
